Fees and Practical Information
A clear, steady foundation for beginning therapy
Beginning therapy can involve practical questions about fees, Medicare rebates, session length and what to expect. This page outlines the arrangements for working together so you can make an informed decision about whether therapy is right for you.
Session Fees
Standard 50–55 minute session: $250
This fee applies to:
in‑person sessions in Carlton
in‑person sessions in Camberwell
telehealth sessions for clients across Victoria
Fees are reviewed annually to ensure sustainability and continuity of care.
Medicare Rebates (Better Access Program)
If you have a Mental Health Treatment Plan from your GP, you may be eligible for a Medicare rebate for eligible psychology sessions.
Medicare rebates are available for eligible sessions with a registered clinical psychologist, subject to current Medicare requirements.
You may be eligible for up to 10 individual psychology sessions per calendar year under the Better Access initiative.
Your GP can provide information about your eligibility and referral requirements.
Private Health Insurance
If you have private health insurance with psychology cover, you may be able to claim a rebate for your session.
Rebate amounts vary depending on your insurer and level of cover. It is best to check directly with your provider before commencing therapy.
Medicare and private health insurance rebates generally cannot both be claimed for the same service.
Telehealth Psychology (Australia‑wide)
Secure, confidential online therapy
Telehealth sessions are available for adults across Victoria who prefer to work remotely or cannot attend in person. Telehealth psychology is fully eligible for Medicare rebates with a valid Mental Health Treatment Plan.
Many clients find telehealth helpful for:
reducing travel time
maintaining consistency during busy periods
accessing therapy from a stable, familiar environment
Sessions are conducted via a secure, encrypted platform.
Locations
Carlton (In‑Person) Convenient for clients in inner‑north Melbourne, including Fitzroy, North Melbourne, Parkville, and Brunswick.
Telehealth (Victoria) Available for clients across Melbourne and regional Victoria.
Session Length
Standard therapy sessions are approximately 50 minutes.
The session provides time to slow down, explore what is happening, and work collaboratively towards meaningful change.
Cancellation Policy
A 48-hour cancellation policy applies.
Sessions cancelled with less than 48 hours' notice, or missed without notice, are charged at the full session fee.
Medicare rebates cannot generally be claimed for late-cancelled or missed appointments.
This policy helps maintain consistent appointment availability and protects time set aside for each client.
Payment
Payment is made on the day of the session via:
Credit or debit card
EFTPOS
Direct deposit for telehealth where applicable
Where eligible, Medicare rebates can be processed following payment.
