Overall, my aim is to assist you to let go of unhelpful patterns and attachments while developing new pathways and skills. If you are after clinical psychology services and counselling then select from the options below.

PTSD and Trauma Treatment

Symptoms of trauma occur when we (or someone close to us) are exposed to a horrifying event or situation. Therapy can help you to process and release trauma and find pathways to growth after challenging life experiences.

Depression

Depression occurs when we experience a significant drop in mood, enjoyment, pleasure, and worth. Persistent low mood, hopelessness and defeat, loss of pleasure or purpose are all major disrupters of life. Therapy can help you to work towards improved mood, self-worth, energy, and purpose.

Eating disorders are characterised by significant weight control behaviours such as restricting food intake, exercising, bingeing and purging. Accompanying this is an over-focus and preoccupation with shape, weight, and appearance. Rebuild a healthy relationship with yourself and with food. Better understand the patterns that keep you restricted.

Relationships and Attachment

Relationships can be a great source of joy, comfort, and security when they are working well. However, all too often we can experience anxiety, distress, and trauma in the context of our relationships. Learning how to regulate distress, communicate effectively, set boundaries, and build intimacy can help to restore healthy relating

Personality and Patterns

Build insight in to your personality style, defences, and ways of operating in the world. Personality related issues are characterised by pronounced differences in the way we might perceive, think, feel, act, and relate to the world. We can all differ along specific dimensions of personality. However, sometimes these patterns can cause significant  personal or relational distress.

Anger Management

Anger issues arise when we feel persistently frustrated and enraged by life events. Often anger reactions can be explosive and lead to strained relationships and tensions. Recognise patterns of anger and how to regulate while communicating effectively

Life Adjustment and Grief

Going through life adjustments and loss can contribute to significant grief. The loss of a loved one, retirement, change in life circumstances are not easy experiences to go through. Seeing a psychologist can act as a space to process these emotions and adjust to the new circumstances.

Psychology Services and Treatments Tailored to Your Needs

Often our presenting concerns and goals can vary greatly. Sometimes, it can be difficult to define exactly what our presenting issues might be. To help, I have listed common components of human experience and development that often come up in therapy. During each session we try to create a clear picture of what the key issues are and how to focus treatment.

1. Develop Meaning and Purpose

An important component of our experience is having meaning and purpose. Sometimes, we lose this if we complete a project, phase of life, or end a relationship. I assist people to tap back in to what is important to them.

2. Gain Clarity Around Emotion, Defence, and Self-Expression

Many factors can influence our emotional patterns. By processing underlying feelings and reducing defence we can often start to live less impeded and burdened in the world.

3. Foster Self-esteem and Self-worth

All to often we carry negative thoughts and emotions regarding our internal value. By shifting our perspective and cultivating self-empowerment or self-compassion we can start to rewrite this shame script.

Develop Self-Awareness, Identity, And Integration

All therapy has a component of building self-awareness, integrating experience, and building a clear identity. If we operate from an anxiety-driven, external, outside-in, or other perspective we can often loose connection with ourselves, desires, and needs.

5. Self-Organization

With so many distractions and anxieties our self-organization can be easily disrupted. Detachment and dissociation can be common. Conversely, the nervous system can become overly rigid and constricted. Therapy aims to integrate, stabilise, and cultivate clearer states from which to function.

6. Attachment and Relationships

One of the key focal points of recent therapies has been to build attachment security, recognise our attachment patterns, and increase our repertoire of stable relating. When we come from a place of true internal security relationality is simplified. We cease to collide, detach, and avoid.

Establish Clearer Sense of Boundaries with Self and Others

Often powerful emotions such as shame, guilt and fear drive dynamics such as people pleasing. Learning to set boundaries for yourself can be one of the most challenging but self-affirming skills you can learn. Differentiating from others can help to clarify your needs and identity.

8. Recognising Patterns that Impact Your Life

Old behavioural patterns and repertoires can often act to derail who we are, our relationships, and careers. Unless we work through underlying emotions and experience we tend to re-enact these old patterns.

Pocessing Trauma, Attachment Experiences, and Old Emotions

This section overlaps with a number of other sections above. Often therapy involves unpacking and processing historic wounds and patterns. But this is never the end point we want to cultivate resilience, growth, and strength to move forward purposefully in life.
